We caught up with him to find out why he is so passionate about wellbeing at work and why he is looking forward to the Summit.

We are thrilled that you will be speaking at our Wellbeing at Work UK Summit in September.

Our first and most important question is, how are you doing today?

I am doing well and very much looking forward to taking part in the Wellbeing at Work Summit and sharing a platform with a distinguished and talented group of professionals.

As a leader based in the region, what are the main challenges your you are facing when it comes to employee wellbeing?

Like many organisations we face challenges encouraging our employees to prioritise their wellbeing and to take personal responsibility to do so as well as developing a workplace culture that promotes health and wellbeing.

What strategies have you seen developing over the past 6 months, both internally and externally, that is moving the dial on wellbeing in the workplace?

We have been running training sessions to help improve awareness of mental health and wellbeing amongst our employees and management population.  This has helped improve general awareness of the support that is available for employees that face challenges with their mental wellbeing. We also provide Mental Health First Aiders to provide initial support and signposting for any mental health concerns for our people.

Why is employee wellbeing so important to you personally?

It is important to me that we treat our employees properly and help create a workplace that enables our people to grow and develop. I believe that looking after employee’s wellbeing will help get the best out of our employees and help improve their performance and productivity.

What are you most looking forward to about the Summit in September?

Sharing and exchanging ideas and approaches with my fellow panellists and attendees on improving Wellbeing in the workplace.

Tell us, what is your vision for the workplace of the future, in terms of engagement, health and wellbeing?

My vision is to create a workplace that prioritises employee wellbeing, understands the benefits and can see tangible results in terms of reduced work related mental health absence.

What areas do you think employers should be focused on over the next 12 months?

Developing Wellbeing action plans that helps take a holistic approach to tackling employee wellbeing i.e., mental, physical, social and financial wellbeing.

How has your organisation been leading the way?

We are on a journey in this respect but are learning to be more mindful of initiatives that lead to impactful change rather than just continuing to do activity that we think helps our employees. We are in the process of carrying out a review of our approach to help us sense check how we fare externally.

Mo will be speaking in London at the Wellbeing at Work Summit UK that takes place both live and in-person in London, Manchester, and virtually for the wider region. Further details on the Summit can be found here.
