We caught up with Rolf to see how he’s feeling in the run up to the summit:
Hi Rolf we are thrilled that you are joining us at the Wellbeing at Work Summit in Zurich this week. Our first and most important question is, how are you doing today?
Very well, thank you. But I also feel that many leaders are currently under enormous pressure due to transformation, AI and economic uncertainty.
As a leader based in the region, what are the main challenges you are facing when it comes to employee wellbeing and mental health?
Many companies still react too late to stress and disengagement. At the same time, leaders themselves are increasingly overwhelmed by constant change and growing complexity.
What strategies have you seen developing over the past 6 months, both internally and externally, that are moving the dial on wellbeing in the workplace?
We see a clear trend towards data-driven wellbeing strategies. Companies increasingly combine leadership development, diagnostics, emotional intelligence and AI-supported tools.
Why is employee wellbeing so important to you personally?
Because leadership directly impacts people’s lives. Wellbeing is no longer a soft topic — it is a strategic success factor.
What impact is AI having in your organization and how are you managing that?
AI creates efficiency, but also uncertainty. Our approach is to use AI as a support system for people and leaders — not as a replacement.
Other than AI, are there any challenges that you are seeing for the first time and how are you addressing them?
Many employees experience permanent transformation fatigue. That is why orientation, transparency and trust have become critical leadership tasks.
What areas do you think employers should be focused on over the next 12 months?
Leadership quality, psychological safety, resilience and the responsible integration of AI.
Do you feel that investment in employee wellbeing in the region is increasing or decreasing and is that a direct reflection on HR leaders’ increasing ability to demonstrate effective returns of their strategies to leadership?
Yes, but organisations increasingly expect measurable impact and clear business value from wellbeing initiatives.
How has your organisation been leading the way?
At Scheelen AG, we combine leadership development, diagnostics, AI and wellbeing into one integrated approach to create sustainable performance and healthier leadership cultures.
