We are delighted that Sanjeeb will be speaking in Mumbai this April as part of our Wellbeing at Work Summit India.
We caught up with him to find out how he’s feeling in the run up to the summit.
Hi Sanjeeb, we are thrilled you will be speaking at our Wellbeing at Work Summit India in April. Our first and most important question is, how are you doing today?
Awesome!
As a leader based in the region, what are the main challenges you are facing when it comes to employee wellbeing?
We are facing 3 primary challenges:
- Organizations look for ROI on the investment made on wellbeing
- Organizations focus only on physical and/or mental wellbeing – forgetting the aspects of social or financial wellbeing so the efforts are only like half circle
- Employees are at times reluctant to disclose conditions or to seek support from organizations fearing being judged & discriminated against.
What strategies have you seen developing over the past 6 months, both internally and externally, that is moving the dial on wellbeing in the workplace?
Organizational Leadership speaking more openly about wellbeing, Creating employee support groups; Adopting channels for anonymous discussions; creating awareness on holistic wellness, celebrating successful wellbeing interventions; measuring impact of wellbeing interventions etc.
Why is employee wellbeing so important to you personally?
Personally, I’ve gone through situations where my health was affected due to workplace stress and toxicity. As a CHRO my role is also to ensure the organization maintains optimum productivity – which is impossible if its people are ‘not well’ – as wellness directly impacts employee’s ability to contribute.
What are you most looking forward to about the Summit in April?
Learning form peers & experts, understanding trends in the industry.
Tell us, what is your vision for the workplace of the future in terms of engagement, health and well-being?
Health and wellbeing need to be an integral part of talent strategy of organizations – focus on the health & wellbeing plays a big role to ensure employee engagement.
What areas do you think employers should be focused on over the next 12 months?
Create the facilitating and empowering environment.
How has your organisation been leading the way?
Created work processes and work environment to open up anonymously, leadership talks on vulnerability, including self-vulnerability, respecting individual diversity & dignity.
