We are delighted that Mikael will be speaking at our Wellbeing at Work Summit Middle East in February. We caught up with him to find out how he’s feeling in the run up to the summit.
Hi Mikael, we are thrilled you will be speaking at our Wellbeing at Work Middle East Summit in February. Our first and most important question is, how are you doing today?
Thank you for asking, I’m doing great 😊
As a leader based in the region, what are the main challenges you are facing when it comes to employee wellbeing?
Even awareness about the importance of wellbeing has increased, the industry is still challenged by old ways of thinking and leading. When the senior leadership truly understands the benefits and the importance of role-modelling, the programs will be increased dramatically.
What strategies have you seen developing over the past 6 months, both internally and externally, that is moving the dial on wellbeing in the workplace?
In 2023 we started several senior leadership programs, which focus on both the individual wellbeing and also how to develop a new wellbeing culture and lead the organizations by wellbeing.
Why is employee wellbeing so important to you personally?
I have had a passion on leadership since early nineties, and I practise what I preach. I have seen the impact first-hand, and today I’m so happy to spread the message in the Middle East.
What are you most looking forward to about the Summit in February?
To connect and start a dialogue with senior leaders, to explore ways to collaborate.
Tell us, what is your vision for the future workplace, in terms of engagement, health and wellbeing?
A place where the leaders are true role-models, taking care of their own and the whole organization’s wellbeing. Wellbeing is an integral part of the strategy and there is a culture of psychological safety, where challenges and solutions can be discussed openly without judgement or tabus.
What areas do you think employers should be focused on over the next 12 months?
To find partners who can advise in developing wellbeing strategies and supporting cultures. Allocate sufficient budgets, with an understanding that wellbeing is not a cost but a highly profitable investment. Start delivering wellbeing programs with long-term targets.
How has your organisation been leading the way?
Hintsa Performance is the world leader in developing wellbeing strategies and delivering both individual and organization-wide programs. We have been leading the way first in sports since late 90s and bringing the experience to corporate world in the past 10 years.
