Meet the Speaker: Leandro Perez, CMO, Salesforce

We are delighted that Leandro will be speaking in Sydney as part of our Australia summit. We caught up with him to see how he’s feeling in the runup to the event.

I’m good. I coach my son’s football team and on the weekend we had a great win. They’re a good team, and nothing like 12x 15 year old boys to keep you on your toes and laughing at yourself.

Employees must be well to do well. My focus is on empowering our people to prioritise their wellbeing so they can sustain high performance. Tech is fast-paced, and with advancements in agentic AI tools like Agentforce, the pace is only accelerating. As a leader, it’s my role to make sure our teams have the support and resources they need to not just meet these demands, but to thrive. Another challenge is ensuring that our wellbeing initiatives truly resonate across our diverse teams, as everyone’s needs can vary significantly.

As a CMO, personalisation is always top of mind. At Salesforce, we offer tailored mental health programs, where employees can get coaching or therapy designed for their specific needs at zero cost to them. We’re also investing in manager enablement, recognising that managers are critical to supporting mental health and setting the tone for a balanced, supportive environment. It’s also about normalising discussion around mental wellbeing – bringing it into the everyday rhetoric of the workplace. Asking, “How are you doing today?” and actively listening to the answer.

For me, leading a large, diverse team within a global tech company, my role is just as much about company culture and listening to the evolving needs of employees as it is about productivity and driving results. When you lead from an empathetic mindset, you reassure your team, help them build resilience, and keep them focused on what matters most now, you drive collective success. I want to see my team flourish, both professionally and personally.

It’s great to take time to hear from other leaders and consider new methods to empower workplace wellbeing. Any opportunity to bring together people with a focused mindset is rewarding, to collaborate with a shared vision.

We are focused on personalisation, to offer an agile and great work experience for our people. I’m excited about the use of AI in this. Like Salesforce’s AI-powered internal talent marketplace Career Connect that helps employees create custom career paths based on their skills and aspirations.

My focus is razor-sharp on AI. We’re thinking carefully about how it can augment teams to boost productivity and improve both customer and employee experiences.

New Slack research shows that daily AI usage among Australian workers has surged by 190% in just six months. This isn’t just about automation; it’s about enabling people to do their jobs better. Daily AI users report being more productive and having greater job satisfaction. In fact, 96% of Australian AI users have used it to perform tasks they didn’t have the skills to complete themselves.

This rapid adoption shows that trust in AI grows with use. By empowering employees with these tools, businesses can unlock the full potential of their digital workforce.

We’re rethinking how we develop skills across all teams. Whether in sales, marketing, or customer support we are prepping people for an AI-future. The 3 key skills people need for success – technical, soft, and human skills. It’s exciting to see everyone – from recruiters to engineers – growing as AI experts, prompters and storytellers.
