We are delighted that Pilar will be speaking in Bogotã this November as part of our Wellbeing at Work Summit LATAM. We caught up with her to find out how she’s feeling in the run up to the summit.
Hi Pilar, we are thrilled you will be speaking at our Wellbeing at Work Summit LATAM in November. Our first and most important question is, how are you doing today?
Today, I feel great, full of energy and excitement for everything that’s coming. It’s an honor to be part of this event and have the opportunity to contribute to workplace wellbeing from my experience.
As a leader based in the region, what are the main challenges you are facing when it comes to employee wellbeing?
The main challenges we face are related to maintaining a proper balance between productivity and personal wellbeing. In an increasingly digital world, it can sometimes be difficult to disconnect, which can lead to burnout. It’s also challenging to create inclusive policies that cater to the diverse needs of employees, from emotional to physical wellbeing.
What strategies have you seen developing over the past 6 months, both internally and externally, that are moving the dial on wellbeing in the workplace?
Over the past six months, I’ve seen a greater focus on mental and emotional wellbeing, with initiatives such as the introduction of digital detox spaces, psychological support programs, and the promotion of flexible work. Organizations are also increasingly adopting a holistic approach where wellbeing is not limited to physical health but includes social and financial wellbeing as well.
Why is employee wellbeing so important to you personally?
For me, employee wellbeing is fundamental because I firmly believe that a person who feels good and valued can perform better and, most importantly, live a more balanced and fulfilling life. Moreover, taking care of the team’s wellbeing creates an environment of trust, commitment, and motivation, which positively impacts the company’s success.
What are you most looking forward to about the Summit in November?
What I’m most looking forward to at the Summit is the opportunity to learn from other leaders, exchange ideas, and explore new perspectives on how to enhance wellbeing in the workplace. I’m also excited to share experiences and continue building an organizational culture where wellbeing is a priority.
Tell us, what is your vision for the future workplace, in terms of engagement, health and wellbeing?
My vision for the workplace of the future is one where wellbeing is integrated into every aspect of the organization. An environment where employees feel empowered, where there is a balance between work demands and personal time, and where an inclusive culture is promoted that supports both professional growth and the holistic wellbeing of each person.
What areas do you think employers should be focused on over the next 12 months?
I think employers should focus on areas such as mental health, offering ongoing support and resources for emotional wellbeing. They should also pay attention to designing policies that promote flexibility so that employees can balance their personal and professional lives. Another important point is to cultivate a leadership style that merges productivity with wellbeing. Additionally, the focus on diversity and inclusion will be key to creating healthier and more equitable work environments.
How has your organization been leading the way?
In our organization, we have implemented a series of initiatives centered on the holistic wellbeing of our employees. From personal development programs to emotional support spaces, we have worked to create an environment where each employee feels valued and supported. Starting with training our leaders to develop skills that support both employee productivity and wellbeing, we are also creating mentorship programs to support the growth and development of new leaders.
